Heritage Hotel 1926

Hotel 1926 is a living testament to Penang’s colonial history, urban evolution, and enduring charm.  Located along Jalan Burmah, one of George Town’s oldest and important thoroughfares, the hotel was initially developed as a series of 24 double storey terrace houses in the Anglo-Malay architectural style.

The current renovation has reconfigured the hotel’s 96 rooms into 78 larger, more spacious rooms by combining smaller units. The layout is divided into two main areas; the front main building along Jalan Burmah houses the elegant lobby, dining  and commercial spaces.  The rear are the guest rooms where one wing opens onto a tranquil swimming pool and garden, while the other has rooms surround peaceful internal courtyards, offering guests a serene escape from the bustling city.

The original Anglo-Malay architectural features—those iconic pitched roofs, high ceilings, and Victorian windows—have been lovingly preserved, while modern amenities ensure guests enjoy all the 21st century comforts of a luxury hotel.
